PhD Candidate, RMIT University

Hamdah’s research explores online conformity and how it contributes to the spread of misinformation on social media. In social media, conformity refers to users altering their beliefs to align with their peers. While social conformity is widely recognised as a prevalent phenomenon among social media users, there has been limited research on online cohorts. Hamdah’s research examines the influence of online comments, particularly how comments drive conformity in readers’ ratings on the trustworthiness of news on social media.

Hamdah is supervised by Prof. Mark Sanderson, Dr. Senuri Wijenayake and Dr. Danula Hettiachchi.
